Todas in their Natural AbodeEighteen kilometres south of Ooty lies Coonoor-the beautiful plantation town, set against the backdrop of the Nilgiris.

The fascinating Sim's Park is famous for its annual fruit show. Lamb's Rock is the single most famous rock in the area known both for its mass as well as the beautiful patterns carved by the elements.

The Law's Falls make a gorgeous sight while providing a popular picnic spot frequented by a large number of bathers.

Other places of tourist interest include Lady Canning's seat, the Pomological Station, Dolphin's Nose and the Ralliah Dam.

21 kms from Coonoor is another small, quiet and peaceful hill station-Kotagiri famous for its Kodanand view point, St.Catherine Falls, Rangaswamy Pillar and Peak, Elk Falls and the rolling coffee plantations.

For visitors, the Nilgiris provide an opportunity to learn about the lifestyles of some of the friendly primitive tribes like the Todas, Kotas, lrulas, Panias and the Kurumbas, from close quarters.

HOW TO REACH :

Coonoor is a half hour's motorable journey from Ooty. Buses and taxis are available for the tourists. The mountain train from Mettupalayam to Ooty passes through Coonoor.
